o you remember September 11, 2001? For me, I remember it from when I was in the fifth grade in elementary school. Even though I still remember this tragic event, I still have not forgotten the impact that it has had on my life as well as God’s sovereignty in the midst of this tragedy.
It was the middle of a session of reading in my fifth grade class. My fifth grade teacher suddenly turned the news on the television and there I saw them: the two twin towers coming to the ground with a plane, soaring ablaze, towards them. I watched as the plane crashed into the two twin towers, forever changing the course that our country has gone as well as how America viewed God in that time and situation.
September 11, 2001 was sad day for America. It was also a day of immense grief for her and her people. For me, as a child of God, it was a time for me to seek the face of God and to pray for our country.
Coming home from school on that day, I asked my mother, “Why did the plane crash into the buildings?”
My mother explained to me the circumstance behind what happened and it was then that I understood that sin is present in our world, even in America. This caused me to seek God’s face and more that week as my mother taught me how to pray and what to pray concerning this horrible event that recently occurred in my beloved country.
The day after September 11, 2001 was children’s choir practice at my church, First Baptist Church of Atlanta. The choir teacher explained to me and the others about the series of events that happened. He explained it to us in a way that was easy to understand for us, a children. Then, we took a moment to pray.
~“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”~2 Chronicles 7:14, New International Version~
I will never forget September 11, 2001. That day and the series of events that followed the day after at my church will forever be in my memory. I will not forget September 11, 2001. I will never forget September 11, 2001, in the Name of Jesus Christ.
I will not forget September 11, 2001.
It is imperative, child of God, that you seek God’s face and pray for our country. America is so dear to God and so is her people. But, the people of God must do their part and not forget September 11, 2001 and pray for America every day. The people should also bring honor to the fallen lives who died on this day and pray for the families, who lost friends and loved ones from this tragic event. Do not forget September 11, 2001 and seek God always, in the Name of Jesus Christ.
America: Make it a priority to pray for our country daily! Do not give up on the foundations that our Forefathers created for her to be a great nation! America is a great nation! Fight for her in prayer every day and honor her and her fruits. I know that I won’t forget. Will you remember?
Never forget September 11, 2001.
