hat is free to you? Whenever you think of the word, “freedom,” what thoughts come to your mind?
For me, true freedom is found in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He gives me this freedom that I experience through His cross and resurrection.
~”So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” ~John 8:36, NIV~
A couple of years ago, I went on a missions trip to Japan. During my time in Japan, I spent a couple of weeks with a family, who lived across the street from the church that I was staying at for that time.
On a summer night, we lit up hanabi sparklers. Hanabi is the Japanese word for, “firework.” The family and I had a lovely time as we marveled at every spark that made its way to the ground and produced beautiful colors for our eyes to behold. It was majestic indeed as we admired the beauty, sparkles and light that came from every hanabi sparkler.
This experience reminds of the freedom that is found within all of us, as children of God, because God placed His light on the inside of us to reflect who He is. Jesus is a God of freedom. Jesus even desires for those, who do not know Him, to come into a growing relationship with Him and experience this freedom that He freely gives: grace.
Jesus is a God of freedom.
~”For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” ~Ephesians 2:8, ESV~
Grace is a gift to us from Almighty God. Grace is also a free gift to us from Almighty God. It is by the grace of the Lord Jesus that any person enter into Jesus and experience freedom. As any person comes into that growing relationship with Jesus Christ, then they become free in Him.
Believing and knowing that you are free in Christ goes back to what you believe to know as the Truth about God. God is pure. God is holy. God is peace. God is free. God is freedom. He is all of these qualities, and so much more. To believe and know that you are free in Christ is to start by believing in who the Son of God is, Jesus Christ.
Believing and knowing that you are free in Christ goes back to what you believe to know as the Truth about God.
Do you believe in Jesus to be your Lord and Savior? Do you desire to experience this freedom that Jesus freely gives, as well as His grace? If so, I encourage you to repeat this prayer after me:
I know that I am a sinner. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for my sins. I confess my sins to you as you take them away, making me Your child. Come into my heart today as my Lord and Savior.
In Jesus’ name,
If you just said this prayer, then you are free indeed and you are now a born-again child of God! Praise the Lord for this free gift of grace that you chose to receive today! Hallelujah!
